TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR SERVICE
This page sets the terms and conditions between First Impressions Flooring LLC (“FIF”) and the homeowner or contractor (“client”) if a job is confirmed by mutual agreement. This document outlines the expectations, roles, and responsibilities of each party as related to the flooring services provided by FIF.
**ALL JOBS**
An estimate is not finalized until the job is scheduled.
At the end of the first day of work, HALF payment shall be required. The remaining balance will be due upon completion of the project. Invoices will be sent via email prior to the first and last days of the job.
Occasionally as a job is underway, additional prep/repairs/materials/labor become necessary, potentially increasing the final cost. FIF will maintain regular communication regarding any changes and will secure client permission prior to any actions. Nothing will be changed to the invoice without client’s consent.
Client should consult with FIF before purchasing any materials in order to ensure best quality product.
Moving furniture/objects out of the workspace is the responsibility of the client. If FIF is doing work for multiple rooms, FIF will maintain regular communication with client to inform what items need to be moved and when. If furniture is not moved, an additional charge will be added to the final invoice and the timeline of the job will be pushed back.
FIF can remove/rearrange large appliances with specialized equipment and disconnect water and gas lines safely. However, FIF is not licensed to reconnect water or gas lines as these are potentially hazardous and require a plumber. It is the responsibility of the client to hire a professional in that area if necessary.
Client is responsible for keeping pets away from active job sites. This is to maintain the safety of pets and FIF representatives. During a flooring project, workers frequently go in and out of the home, creating the potential for an animal to escape, so it is the responsibility of the client to properly contain all pets. If a failure to comply with this condition leads to potential harm or injury of an FIF representative, the agreement may be terminated at FIF’s discretion. Pets, children, and adults should not interfere with the project’s progress.
If homeowner belongs to an HOA, client is responsible for communicating to FIF any relevant regulations (e.g. quiet hours, parking stipulations, office check-in, etc.).
Client is responsible for providing access to electricity during the flooring project.
If a representative for FIF arrives at an agreed-upon time and is unable to access the work area, a $50 rescheduling fee may be added to the final invoice at the discretion of FIF.
FIF may take photos and/or videos of the area being worked on at any point during the project. These may be used for promotional or informational materials and published online or in print. No payment or royalties shall be received for these images. FIF will never publish, share, or post any photos with exact location identifiable (e.g. will not post photos of home exteriors and will not “tag” the exact location on social media posts). Consent for photos/videos of the project is assumed, but client may revoke consent in writing at any time.
Client is responsible for keeping the home between 30-50% relative humidity with no standing water in the basement, as both of these factors significantly affect the integrity of the flooring.
DEMOLITION
Client may be responsible for providing a dumpster. If that is the case, FIF will communicate minimum size requirements. If unable to secure a dumpster, client may request one from FIF for an additional charge added to the final invoice.
While FIF will do everything possible to minimize dust impact, there will still be dust present and is not fully unavoidable.
INSTALL
Client may be responsible for providing a dumpster. If that is the case, FIF will communicate minimum size requirements. If unable to secure a dumpster, client may request one from FIF for an additional charge added to the final invoice.
FIF does not level concrete subfloors unless specifically outlined in the estimate.
While FIF will do everything possible to protect your walls, some wall damage could still occur during the installation process.
Depending on the height difference of the pre-existing floor and the new floor, it may be necessary to make cuts to the width of one or more doors. This service costs $50 per door. This cost will likely already be listed on the bid but may occur unexpectedly.
SANDING
FIF works to reduce dust impact within the home by using a vacuum system that hooks up to the sanding machines and by putting up plastic sheeting around the kitchen and stairways. However, as with any home renovation, some dust will still be present and cannot be fully prevented.
There will be certain times of the day during the sanding process that the client will not be able to walk on the floor. FIF will coordinate those times with client to maximize convenience.
REFINISHING
The fumes of oil-based finishes can be toxic to pets, particularly cats. FIF recommends boarding pets for a short time during this process if opting for an oil-based finish. Oil-based finishes can also be detrimental to an infant’s health. Client should also avoid doing laundry during this time.
